Daniel’s Testimony

When I was 22 years old and in the Navy my life had taken a large change for the worse. I began to drink a lot, and I found myself becoming more and more depressed. That is when I met with a friend of mine who told me to read the book of Mark. I read through the whole book in about a week, and it helped a little. He began inviting me to his church in Hawaii, where I was stationed. But I never could seem to find out where the service was going to be for the next week. So eventually I stopped going to church or asking about Jesus, even though it had helped change my life and attitude. I was quite confused and went back to my old ways.
Upon coming to UNM I met a campus minister, Adrian, and he invited me to New Covenant Christian Church (NCCC). I thought the worship was similar to what I had seen at the church in Hawaii. I enjoyed the way the people just went for it. After a few Bible studies Adrian asked me if I had ever made a decision to give my whole life to Jesus. Up until that point, I didn’t even know that was an option. I gave my life to Jesus on February 14th and was baptized the following Sunday. I was baptized in the Holy Spirit the following Wednesday and began to pray in tongues. I knew right away that God wanted me to join NCCC and go on the Spring Break trip. The Spring break trip was one of the most spiritually maturing things that I have ever done. Soon after that, I joined the usher group and help set up for praise and worship. God has really shown me who I am to Him, and has really helped me to grow and mature as a man of God.
